Type 1 Voice: advocating for type 1 diabetes

Type 1 Voice was formed in 2006 and has been a pioneer in influencing positive outcomes for individuals and giving families living with type 1 diabetes a true voice. Type 1 Voice is an independent Australian organisation, free from bias, political and commercial interests, made up of parents, families, and people living with type 1 diabetes.

Past advocacy initiatives have included the extension of carer payments, health-supporting workplaces policy, development of the best practice international position statement for type 1 diabetes at school, and development of the world's first Parent Guide and Clinician Guide. https://www.ispad.org/news/420540/ISPAD-Position-S

So what is advocacy?

Advocacy helps promote and protect the rights and interests of an individual or group. Our type 1 diabetes advocacy program aims to build capacity and ensure those living with diabetes, and their associates and caregivers are empowered, have choices, and remain in control of their health decisions.

The Type 1 Foundation with its dedicated advocacy service, Type 1 Voice, is committed to improving the lives of all those living with type 1 diabetes.

Tell us about what matters most to you.

We are on the precipice of change and we want to hear from you! What do you want or need to build the capacity for you and/or your family to manage type 1 diabetes? We need your voice to join our collective voice to represent the interests of those living with type 1 diabetes. You could have type 1 yourself or be a mother, father, friend, grandparent, or other associate or colleague of someone living with type 1 diabetes. We are looking for those willing to commit their time to champion the type 1 diabetes cause to make real change. Change that will empower those living with type 1 diabetes with choice and control over their health decisions.
