The T1D Learning Centre  - Back to School with Type 1 in 2020

We welcome the new 2020 school year with additional resources at the T1D Learning Centre that will enhance the school’s ability to manage your child with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) according to world best practice ISPAD guidance!

The T1D Learning Centre supports and advocates for families to access the best evidence based practice for children at school with the new array of cost-free resources that empowers the parent, clarifies roles and responsibilities of schools and treating medical teams, encourages using the full potential of CGM to provide the best possible outcome for the student with T1D!

Our expert consulting team, consisting of Australian and international paediatricians, diabetes educators, parents and school personnel all contribute their broad experience to create the following resources, all based on 2018 ISPAD Position Statement on Diabetes in Schools:

T1D e-learning modules for schools (t1d.org.au)

o   The T1D diabetes e-learning modules have proven success in Australian schools over the past 3 years and were awarded the international 2019 ISPAD prize for innovation.

o   Parents can choose these modules over any other e-learning that is not based on international consensus ISPAD guidelines

o   The e-learning modules are free and no other training seminars are necessary

o   The T1D e-learning modules augment training by the parent and treating team

2020 Diabetes management plans (DMP)

o   The DMP is the prescribed medical orders for your child that cannot be changed without your consent.

o   Your medical team should provide you with a comprehensive DMP of your choice that accurately reflects what you and and your medical team want executed for your child at school
